New Signings at Lochgelly

The Lochgelly Band have been strengthening their ranks for life in the 1st section. With the Scottish Championships only a week away the band are pleased to release details of a clutch of new signings, including several former Championship section players.

Joining the band on cornet are Alan Kuczibic and Alan Cornish. Alan Kuczibic is well known in Fife banding circles having been a former principal cornet of Buckhaven & Methil. Alan joins the band from Championship section Kingdom Brass and will be taking up the vacant seat in the front row. A veteran of many performances Alans experience will add to the quality already present on the front bench.

Alan Cornish has travelled a lot further, having joined the band from Soundhouse Brass in Southampton. Alan has recently moved to the area with his work and will be joining the band on tutti cornet. Alan is enjoying playing the test piece "Voyage of Discovery" and is looking forward to competing at his first Scottish Championships.

Joining the band on solo trombone is Davy Spence. Davy joins the band from Scottish Champion band Newtongrange Silver where he occupied the second trombone chair for 14 years. Davy has won two Scottish Championship winners medals in the last two years and says he is looking forward to completing the hat trick this year. The band are pleased to have captured the signature of such an experienced player.

Ron Rye has done a lot in a short career in brass bands. His first band was Livingston Brass with whom he won two Scottish Championships and played three times at the National Championships. After leaving Livingston Ron spent two years with Championship section Bo'ness & Carriden where he occupied the second baritone chair. He also guested for the Unison Kinneil band at the 2004 Scottish Open.

Last but certainly not least the band have signed Jennifer Hall to join our percussion section. In a bit of a baby boom for Lochgelly band two of our three percussionists have announced the happy news that they are pregnant. With a baby due around the time of the Scottish Championships one of our team has sensibly decided to stand down. In a short time with the band Jennifer has proved herself to be a very capable addition to the 'shed builders'.
