Lochgelly Band and James Chamberlain Part Company

The Lochgelly band and MD James Chamberlain have amicably agreed to part company. Having taken the band into the 1st section at the first time of asking James felt that the demands placed upon his time by an ambitious 1st section band would be incompatible with increased pressure from work. He also felt that his increased conducting commitments detracted from the time he could devote to his first love; that of playing.

Although short, Jame’s tenure with the band was an ultimately successful one. As well as that Scottish Championship promotion James also conducted the band to a section win at Land O’Burns and second place at the Fife Brass Band Festival. Like the rest of the band he was massively disappointed with the National Finals result but picked the band up to give a great performance of “Ballet For Band” at his final engagement with the band, the Scottish Challenge Shield contest.

The Lochgelly band would like to extend its grateful thanks to James for his hard work over the last few months. A great asset to Scottish brass banding and a great ambassador for Whitburn band he is one of the best musicians it has been our pleasure to work with. We wish him well for the future and there will always be a warm welcome for him in Lochgelly.
